Don Del Grande has more information on the special features on The Fifteenth Season DVD:
In addition to the "usual" deleted scene Easter eggs, a number of episodes have hidden features that are accessed during the episode when a "Simpsons Xing" street sign shows up, although you may have to be watching with the commentary and/or deleted scenes activated in order to see them.
For the eighth time in a row, Wesley Mead's extensive review of the latest DVD set is here. The review of The Fifteenth Season DVD/Blu-Ray is now available on our main news page.
Wesley Mead's extensive review of the The Fourteenth Season DVD is now available on our main news page.
Also, the UK release has been moved to October 10. In France, the street date is November 13, In Finland November 18 and in Australia November 30.
The Complete Fourteenth Season DVD is on its way! Cover art has been released in the USA and Europe. However, the region 1 release date is not yet available. According to Amazon UK, the set will be out in the UK (region 2) on September 19, 2011.
The cover art includes the alien Kodos (or Kang), most familiar from the Treehouse of Horror episodes. As usual, the set will be available in "standard" and "head" boxes, DVD only.
Commentaries on each episode contain guest commentators, such as Joe Mantegna, Stan Lee, Delroy Lindo and Robert Pinsky.
The Complete Thirteenth Season will be released in the USA and Canada on August 24, 2010. It will also be available in Blu-Ray. All 22 episodes come with commentary. Other special features are not yet announced. In addition to the standard box, the 13th season is also available as a limited "head" box, similar to the 11th and 12th season boxed sets.
The release date for the UK is September 13 and for Australia September 29.
However, be advised that to everyone's surprise this set contains no commentaries or any other special features! Well, there is a so-called sneak preview of the "The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special" that aired before the set was out. Even the animated menus are replaced with the simplest black & white doodles.
In other words, this set was rushed together at the last minute and doesn't do justice to the 20th anniversary of the show. This set should've been the most extensive to date in terms of special features and other goodies. But it isn't. It is quite the opposite.
The only special feature mentioned at this point is "The 20th Anniversary Special Sneak Peek by Morgan Spurlock", TVShowsOnDVD reports.
Naturally, we all hope that this set will also feature commentaries for each episode like all previous sets, but that remains to be seen.
Surprisingly enough, the next Simpsons DVD boxed set will not apparently be season 13, but the 20th season (2008 - 2009). The release date is still unknown, but it is likely that the set will be out by Christmas. Another major change is that The Complete Twentieth Season season will also be available in Blu-Ray high defintion format.
There is also a KFC promotion for The Simpsons Ride that is giving away the Twentieth Season DVD as prizes.
The Complete Twelfth Season will be released in the USA and Canada on August 18, 2009.
